A Smart Device for Salivary Stimulation - Comparison Between Chemical and Electrical Stimuli

Smart medical devices improve oral health. This paper presents a comparison between two protocols for measuring salivary stimulation. The first protocol uses unstimulated and chemical-stimulated saliva. The second one uses an electrically stimulated saliva through a medical device - SaliPen - transformed into an intelligent one. The intelligent SaliPen was integrated into the ACESO platform - which combines e-health and oral devices—results show that electrical stimulation increases the salivary flow with longer-lasting results.
